Specification

Diploma の Global Campus に「Specification」というものがあり,これは Diploma 受験生でなくてもだれでも見ることができます。→ こちら（”Specifications 2021/22” が該当する文書です）

 

これは言ってみれば「憲法」のようなものでDiploma の運営を司るものといえます。これは非常に重要な文章なのですみっからすみっまでじっくり読んでください。Tutorial でも説明があると思われますので、Tutorial 前には流し読みして、Tutorial 後にじっくり読む、というのもいいと思います。

 

 

以下では、アホおやぢがざっと読んでみて、

ここは特に目を通しておいた方がいいと思ったところを書き連ねます。

 

4～5ページ

D3、D4、D5 の Learning Outcome section 1

"Understand how the growing environment, grape growing options, winemaking options,wine law and regulation (D4、D5 は industry associations and labelling terms）,and wine business influence the style, quality, and price of the principal wines of the world."

 

結局 Theory は、Level3 と同じで、6 Factors + Market がワインのスタイル、品質、価格にどのような影響を与えるかを問い続けるのがWSET ということが言えるでしょう。

 

上記のことがあるために、４ページ に戻って

"The Diploma is divided into six mandatory Units.  The two foundation Units must be studied and, for D1, examined at the beginning of the Diploma programme because they will provide the knowledge and understanding required for success in subsequent Units."

 

つまり全ての受験生はまず D1（栽培・醸造）の受験が義務付けられており、続いて D2（ワインビジネス）の受験をすることが必要とされているということになります。実際 Online も D1 → D2 の順番で進んでいくようです。

Total Qualification Time (TQT) and Guided Learning Hours(GLH)

 

".... The TQT for the Level4 Diploma in Wines is 500 hours...."

つまり、1日2時間勉強すれば日250日（8か月強）で解脱ができるというわけです。

 

んなもん、
8か月強で取れるわけないやろ！

Recommended Tasting Samples

各ページ表の左側の ESSENTIAL SAMPLESは一通り飲んでおきましょう。右側の OPTIONAL SAMPLES は case by case です。

 

JSA では「3,000円 縛り」というのがありましたが、Diploma では、もっと高いワインも出ます。最近 Charles Heidsieck 2012（12,500円位）が出ました。

D4、D5 および D3の合否について

"For Units D4 and D5 the grade issued will be based on the overall percentage mark achieved in the assessment as an aggregate of the open-response and tasting components, with a minimum aggregate percentage of 55%, to qualify for a Pass grade and above."

 

D4（Sparkling）と D5（Fortified) は、

Theory と Tasting の平均点が55％以上であれば合格です。ただし、どちらか一方（ふつうは Theory）で Fail Unclassified だと無条件で不合格になります。

 

具体的には 以下の場合、平均点は a) より b) の方が高いのですが

b) は上記のルールに従って不合格になります。

 

a) Theory 60%(Pass), Tasting 54%(Fail)

　→ Overall 57% (Pass)

b) Theory 100%(Distinction), Tasting 44%(Unclassified)　

　→ Overall 72% でも Merit ではなく　Fail

D3（Light wine)については、Theory と Tasting の両方で 55％以上を取らなければならず、D4, D5 と違って平均点合格の制度はありません。

8. Validity of Passes

"Unit passes remain valid for the three-year registration period.  At the end of the registration period candidates may re-register and the continuing validity of any passes they have gained will be reviewed against the current Specification."

 

Diploma は一応3年以内に取得しなければならないことになっているようですが、

3年で取得できなくても再登録料 22,000円 を払えば継続できます。再登録は、最初の登録と連続していなくても問題はありません。例えば、2020年1月に登録すると、2022年12月までに Diploma を取得していないと、Caplan の事務局から再登録料督促メールがきます。2023年が、例えば仕事の都合で全く受験ができない場合、2024年1月に再登録料を支払えば、2026年12月まで有効となります。もちろん間が空いたとしてもそれまでに合格した試験の結果は生きています。ただし、上記の場合、2023年には WSETの HP のCanvas にアクセスすることはできないはずです。詳しくは Caplan に訊いてみてください。

12 Examination Feedback, Enquiries and Appeals

（長いので本文は省略）

 

Diploma に限らず、WSET では、成績が気に入らないときはお金を払えばもう一度採点してもらうことができ、時として成績が覆ることがあり、（例えば Fail だったのが、Pass になる）その場合はお金が返ってくる、というシステムがあります。また、Fail を喰らった場合に限り、これまた有料なのですが、どこが悪かったのかを Feedback してもらえるシステムもあります。これについては後述します。
